MBSR is highly regarded for making mindfulness meditation accessible for people from all walks of life. Scientific studies have shown the MBSR program to decrease psychological and physical pain and discomfort and improve the overall quality of life for participants.
Dr. Kabat-Zinn describes mindfulness as an approach to life based on the understanding that: "the present is the only time that any of us have to be alive - to know anything - to perceive - to learn - to act - to change - to heal."
This class includes guided mindfulness meditation instruction, gentle stretching and yoga, discussion, daily home practice, and a personal consultation with an instructor.

Instructor: Amanda McMaine E-RYT

Date: Saturday, March 24, 2012 1:00-4:00 PM
Prerequisite:
Cost: $45
Required Materials:
Practicing yoga as an art form involves more than practicing asana in a technically precise way to solve a problem. Yoga as art brings one closer to the material that is our body, breath and mind. Thus the outcome is more than utilitarian, but more a creative expression from inside that is both emotionally satisfying and deeply centering.
The yogis believe that this way of practicing involves the energy body and can take place through working with the breath. The effect, then, takes place at a different level than muscle and bone but involves one's whole being.
Join Amanda, the Director of LHAA’s Yoga Teacher Training program as she guides you through a practice of simple asana done in this deeper way. Learn to tap into your energy body and experience the increased awareness of and trust in your body’s ability to heal and thrive.
Expect to leave feeling open, refreshed and revitalized!
