Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an intensive multi class program based on the UMass model started by Jon Kabat-Zinn. The program is designed to change the way you relate to and cope with stress. At the heart of the program is the belief that mindfulness practices will mobilize your inner wisdom and healing resources. The program consists of eight (8) weekly classes plus one all day retreat style class.
Published research indicates that the majority of people who complete the MBSR program report lasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms. The studies report:
– Reductions in pain levels and an enhanced ability to cope with pain that may not go away
– Decreases of anxiety and depression

Toni Reiss, M.S., BC-DMT, E-RYT
Toni is a psychotherapist and yoga and meditation teacher with over 30 years of experience. She specializes in using the body/mind connection to foster healing and well-being while reducing stress and suffering. After receiving her M.S. from Hunter College, Toni became a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) and an Experienced Yoga Teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT). Additionally, she has completed courses in Mindfulness Training for Professionals and Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors at Duke Integrative Medicine Center. Toni’s MBSR training is with the UMASS Center for Mindfulness whose world-renowned program was started by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
